The Dominion of Carolusburg and Aurea, also known simply as the Dominion of Carolusburg (in High Sarovian: Pesitpais eui Carolusburg y Aurea) is a country that occupies much of the Continent of Ostos and extends from the entire South Island to parts of the North Island from Ostos. The Dominion borders its parent nation: the New Sarovian Empire and Her Colonies and Dominions. It is the second largest country in the Graalian world, second only to its closest ally: the New Sarovian Empire and Her Colonies and Dominions.
The lands currently occupied by the Dominion of Carolusburg have been inhabited for centuries by different peoples. Starting around 2016, expeditions by the Emerald Town Expedition Corps, led at the time by a Sarovian by the name of Johnathan Zor, a distant cousin of the Imperial House of Vasa. However, due to the presence of a "Sarovian" group in the Ostos region, the New Frontier Republic (which would later become the Aurean Empire) would fight several battles - starting the Saro-Aurean Skimirshs (2016-2022). During the Sarovian expeditions in Ostos, the New Sarovian Empire began to establish the Crown Colonies on the continent. Such as: New Reuss, New Syrixia and Carolusburg. In 295 AS the Aurean Empire would lose the Second Saro-Aurean War. Knowing this, with the victory of the New Sarovian Empire and Her Colonies and Dominions, the Dominion of Carolusburg would be officially formed on the South Island of Ostos thus unifying the Three Colonies (New Syrixia, New Reuss and Carolusburg) as a Federal Dominion. Subsequently, Constantine IX Vasa the Royo eui do Sarovians y Imperad eui lan Comune Saroviana (King of the Sarovians and Emperor of the Sarovian Commonwealth) would become the legitimate and only holder of the title of Aurean Emperor, which made the Dominion of Carolusburg the legitimate successor of the Aurean Empire. Thus, the Dominion would come to be popularly known as the Dominion of Carolusburg and Aurea with the annexation of the Aurea Empire to the federation through the Territorial and Electoral Reform Act (2023).
The Dominion of Carolusburg is a federation composed of nine provinces and three territories, a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, with the Royo y Imperad Carolus XIII Vasa as head of state — a symbol of the Dominion of Carolusburg's historic ties to the New Sarovian Empire — with the government headed by a Prime Minister and have a viceregal representative, this being the Governor-General of the Dominion. It is a multicultural country possessing traces of its Aureans and Sarovians ethnicities. One of the most developed countries in the World Graalian, the Dominion of Carolusburg has a diversified economy, dependent on its abundant natural resources and trade, being considered by many as a "tax haven" for the fact of getting a large amount of Carodian Cronas (the currency of the country being abbreviated only to Cronas or Cr) in addition to not having large taxes.
Etymology[edit | edit source]
There are several theories as to the etymological origin of the word Carolusburg. Sarovian historians trained at Falkenholm College in the Culture course consider that the word Carolusburg is a tribute to Saint Charles, who is popularly known as the Royo Carolus XII of the Sarovians.

Pre-History[edit | edit source]
Native Peoples[edit | edit source]
Archaeological and genetic studies through intensive research by historians at Falkenholm College indicate a human presence in southern Ostos prior to Emerald Town Expedition Corps expeditions. It is estimated that around 100 indigenous groups of different tribes lived in that region, the main ones being: the Mahihati Tribe, Maori and Haadiya. According to archaeological remains, the tribes worshiped several gods that were recorded in a book written by the second Governor-General Theodor Kinwood in his literary work "The Legends of Carodia".
However, these native populations met a tragic end when the Emerald Town Expedition Corps would arrive in Ostos occupying the South Island region of the continent and establishing their bases. Thus, the expeditionaries observed the native Indians, and, due to lack of communication due to the indigenous people having their own language, the expeditionaries opened fire against them in defense of their occupied regions — which led to the tragic end of the Maori and Haadiya tribes. In turn, the last remaining tribe would be the Tribe of Mahihati that would survive until 296 AS when former Commodore Ajax would carry out Operation Mandingo with the objective of exterminating the indigenous tribe that would be threatening the peace in the newly created Dominion of Carolusburg. Thus, the sailors of the Imperial Sarovian Navy of the Far West Fleet would exterminate about 80% of the population of the Tribe of Mahihati. However, currently, there are few indigenous people in the region who do not represent any threat to the local population.
Sarovian Colonization[edit | edit source]
Around 2016, Johnathan Zor would go on to form a group of mercenaries to join the Emerald Town Expedition Corps to represent Sarovian sovereignty in the newly discovered continent of Ostos. As soon as they arrived, the expeditioners docked in the current Crown Colony of Westling, which would later become the "Sarovian Center in Ostos", being the most popular Crown Colony to this day. With the arrival of expeditionaries under the command of Johnathan Zor (a distant cousin of the Imperial House of Vasa) a threat would emerge from the interior of the continent, this being the famous New Frontier Republic (NFR) that would become in the future the Aurean Empire that would establish a great rivalry for command of the continent until the end of the Second Saro-Aurean War (such a rivalry that would last about six years).
The Aurean Empire refused to recognize the Crown Colonies of the New Sarovian Empire. Therefore, there are no traces of formal declarations of war from 2016 until 2022, so most of the battles were carried out in skirmish formats, which gave rise to Saro-Aurean Skimishs (2016-2022). EWhile the Aurean Empire tried to establish itself internally due to its weak civil and cultural development, the New Sarovian Empire established the Three Colonies, these being the Crown Colonies of New Reuss, New Syrixia and Carolusburg, which at the time would be commanded by the Sarovian government. However, the Aureans would not allow the New Sarovian Empire to settle so easily on "their continent".
Modern History[edit | edit source]
The Awakening of the Second Saro-Aurean War[edit | edit source]
After the destruction of the Aurean Empire in a failed campaign into Estos with the aim of establishing colonies, the Aurean Empire along with the New Sarovian Empire sought a moment of relative "peace" with the aim of developing the Stefanic Faith under a unified church. Although New Sarovia and the Aurean Empire are located on completely different continents, the New Sarovian Empire has always tried to seek to help the Aurean Empire, in addition to rescuing them during the Amestrian invasion. But arrogance and pride lived in the heart of Kevlar V Vaughn.
Kevlar V Vaughn, along with some members of his General Staff, left "secretly" at night from the city of Valeroche (currently known as Escora) and sailed towards Estos where they would meet an enemy faction of the New Sarovian Empire, the Loganites. Upon arriving in Estos, Kevlar entered a private room with Logan, the head of the Loganite faction (a rebel group from the Grand Kingdom of the State) where they talked for hours. Until finally, Kevlar together with Logan announce something shocking: a union between the Aurean Empire and the loganite faction, decreeing the Auro-Loganite Empire. The Aurean Empire would become the Principality of Aurea while the Loganite faction would become the Grand Duchy of the Loganite. This obviously angered His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor, Constantine IX & III, as Kevlar would be conspiring against him to help his enemies. Thus, not long after, the New Sarovian Empire issued an Act of Declaration of War against the Auro-Loganite Empire. Thus starting the Second Saro-Aurean War.
The Second Saro-Aurean War[edit | edit source]
The Second Saro-Aurean War started on July 17, 2022 and culminated in several battles lasting until October 7, 2022 where it extended into the Angelite Rebellion. However, the New Sarovian Empire defeated its enemies thanks to the help of its Rear Admiral at the time, the first Governor-General of Carolusburg, Richard Lux Vaughn. In addition, important people like Ajax Artois-Avidius, Tsu Kinwood and Theodor Kinwood helped in the destruction of the Aureans during the war (both with strategies and on the battlefield itself). In the future, the Aurean Empire would surrender to the New Sarovian Empire and Her Colonies and Dominions, accepting its defeat in both Estos and Ostos and formally signing the Treaty of Leda. This was the first time Aurea had admitted defeat to her biggest rival — the New Sarovian Empire.
Even with the signing of the Treaty of Leda, days later, the Aurean Empire would break with its w
ord, infringing several terms of the Treaty — the main one being war reparations. Thus, the Aurean Empire and the former Old Guard Corps would try one last offensive in the Crown Colony of Westling, where they would end up being defeated for the last time. This latest offensive would see the former Aurean Emperor Cassio I Avidius-Vaughn surrender his rightful claims under the Aurean Empire to Constantine IX Vasa with the support of the former Aurean House of Lords. Thus, Constantine IX Vasa would be officially crowned as Aurean Emperor making the Dominion of Carolusburg the legitimate successor of the Aurean Empire.
The Dominion of Carolusburg[edit | edit source]
The Dominion of Carolusburg would be officially created after the "Grand Battle of the Bastille", this being the last battle of the Second Saro-Aurean War, where, the Royo eui do Sarovians y Imperad eui lan Comune Saroviana would officially create and grant sufficient autonomy to the new and newly created Dominion of Carolusburg on the south island of Ostos. Due to the great importance of Rear Admiral Richard Lux Vaughn, and, mainly, for betraying his former nation (the Aurean Empire in which he had a princely title) to help the New Sarovian Empire, Tel Majis Imperialò, Constantine IX Vasa, later, Constantine I of Carolusburg would appoint Richard Lux Vaughn to become the first Governor-General of the Dominion.
With Richard Lux Vaughn becoming Governor-General he gathered his former comrades during his time in the Aurean Empire, namely Tsu Kinwood and Theodor Kinwood, inviting them to start a new era in their lives, this being — to help in the development of the Dominion of Carolusburg. Theodor and Tsu Kinwood accepted the proposal becoming Privy Counselors of the Dominion, where they would help Richard Lux Vaughn and Royo eui Pesitpais Constantine I Vasa.
During the initial stage, Richard Lux Vaughn along with his Privy Council began preparations for building a democracy in the Dominion, namely: the creation of the Carodian Parliament, which at the time was contested by the Western Caps Party and Western Hats Party with a total of only five seats available, that is, only five provinces. In the first Dominion Election, the Caps Party won the election, thus Sir Henry Vasa OV became the first Prime Minister of Carolusburg (being considered to this day as the best Prime Minister the Dominion has ever had). With the beginning of Sir Henry Vasa OV's term, the Dominion of Carolusburg would undergo a major change, this being: the Annexation of the Aurean Empire to the Dominion, thus making the Dominion of Carolusburg the legitimate successor of the Aurean Empire. In other words: "the True Aurea".
The Annexation of the Aurean Empire to the Carolusburg[edit | edit source]
The former Aurean House of Lords fled to the newly created Dominion of Carolusburg along with the former Aurean Emperor Cassio I Avidius-Vaughn in order to crown Constantine IX Vasa as the rightful Aurean Emperor through their respective claims. Thus, Constantine IX Vasa is officially crowned as Constantine I of Carolusburg and Aurea. This was an asset to the Imperial House of Vasa as they gained possession of their biggest rival, the Aurean Empire.
Although virtually all of the former Aurean House of Lords abandoned their former lands to crown Constantine IX Vasa as the rightful and only Aurea Emperor. The Annexation was formally made official through the Territorial and Electoral Reform Act (2023) durante o mandato de Sir Henry Vasa OV.
The Carolus XIII Vasa's reign[edit | edit source]
On November 28, 2023 (311 AS), it was announced within the territories of the Dominion through the Sarovian Pathé the death of His Royal Majesty, the Royo eui Carolusburg y Aurea Constantine I Vasa. This would shock the entire Dominion, after all, by many, Constantine I was greatly loved by the Carodian people since he had annexed the Aurean Empire. From this, the Carodian population entered a state of mourning as did the entire Sarovian Commonwealth. But what was on the Carodians' minds was: "Who Will Be the New King?" Many believed that the Dauphin John Vasa would become the new Royo eui Carolusburg y Aurea, but, this would change when John would resign the post in favor of his son, Carolus XIII Vasa. Thus, Carolus XIII Vasa would become Carolus II of Carolusburg and Aurea, assuming his grandfather's titles, and becoming the second monarch of Vasa's lineage to hold the Aurean throne.
Just like his grandfather, Carolus XIII Vasa after receiving the title of Royo eui of the Sarovians y Imperad eui lan Comune Saroviana of the Sarovian Assembly of Peers, His Excellency, the Governor-General Tsu Kinwood, together with the Carodian Assembly of Peers (former Aurean House of Lords) met to endorse Carolus XIII Vasa as Carolus II eui of the Carodians y Aureans (Carolus XIII Vasa of the Carodians and Aureans).

Carodian Government[edit | edit source]
The Government of the Dominion of Carolusburg was dominated by three main political parties, namely: Western Hats, Caps and the Carodian Liberal Party (formed by Prime Minister Doss Kinwood, thus creating the first official party of carodian origin). The role of the Carodian Government is to administer the day-to-day activities of the Dominion. To facilitate this work, the Carodian Parliament (formerly the Imperial Aurean Government) was created, divided into two main chambers: the Carodian Assembly of Peers (Upper House of the Royal Parliament, formerly known as the Aurean House of Lords) and the Carodian House of Commons (Lower House of the Royal Parliament, formerly known as the Aurean House of Representatives). The Carodian Government is led by the Prime Minister of the Dominion who performs various functions in conjunction with the Royal Cabinet (composed of Ministers of the Dominion).
Electoral disputes contributed to the creation and development of the Dominion culture. This was made clear by the great dispute between the Western Caps and Western Hats, where, they tied in a dispute for the possession of the government, where, Sir Henry Vasa OV won this dispute collaborating with the representative of the Hats in Carolusburg: at the time Theodor Kinwood, where he would become the Deputy Prime Minister of the Dominion, thus forming a coalition with the intention of helping the Dominion's development — which in fact worked for a long time.
Viceregal representative[edit | edit source]
The Governor-General of Carolusburg and Aurea, also mentioned as Governor-General of Carolusburg (in High Sarovian: Gouvernad-Léddor eui Carolusburg y Aurea) is the federal viceregal representative of the Auro-Carodian monarch, currently King Constantine I. The king is the head of state of the Dominion of Carolusburg and other realms of the Sarovian Commonwealth , but resides in its oldest and most populous Empire, the New Sarovian Empire. The king, on the advice of his Colonial and Commonwealth Office, appoints a governor-general to administer the government of the Dominion of Carolusburg on the king's behalf, discharging most of his constitutional and ceremonial duties. The commission is for an indefinite period - known as serving At His Royal Majesty's pleasure
The office began in 295 AS, when through the Act of Reclamation and Relinquishment, Constantine IX of New Sarovian Empire became the legitimate Aurean Emperor. Thus, the former Aurean Empire was annexed to the Dominion of Carolusburg through the Territorial and Electoral Reform Act, 2022. After the Sarovian conquest under Aurea, the Sarovian monarch Constantine IX gathered former Aurean Lords members of the old Aurean House of Lords and placed them in the current Carodian Assembly of Peers. From this arose the need for a federal viceregal representative to administer the Dominion during the absence of His Royal Majesty, the King. Thus, the late Rear Admiral and 1st Duke of Burvanica, Richard Lux Vaughn (former Aurean Prince) was charged with being the 1st Governor-General of Carolusburg and Aurea. Currently, after the death of the first Governor-General Richard Lux Vaughn, his grandson, Theodor Kinwood has been appointed by His Royal Majesty the King to become the second Governor-General of Carolusburg and Aurea. The Currently Governor-General of Carolusburg and Aurea is Tsu Kinwood.
Culture[edit | edit source]
The culture of the Dominion of Carolusubrg has historically been influenced by the cultures and traditions of the Sarovians and Aureans. There are different Aboriginal cultures, languages, art and music throughout Carolusburg. Many words, inventions, literary works, and competitions and sports were introduced to the Dominion of Carolusburg. Football, kayak racing, horse racing, among others. The country's culture was strongly influenced by immigration from all over the world, and mainly by the annexation of the Aurean Empire to the Dominion of Carolusburg. Many carodians value multiculturalism and see Carolusburg as being inherently multicultural. However, the country's culture has been heavily influenced by Sarovian culture because of the proximity and high rate of migration between the two countries.
Arts of the Dominion[edit | edit source]
The carodian visual arts have been dominated by Lanz Teri-Vicenz Kinwood Bonhart — the most famous painter of the Dominion of Carolusburg — known also as: "2nd Viscount Camrose and 1st Viscount Teri". Lanz Kinwood's career actively spans to the present day providing various arts with the aim of developing carodian culture for the Royal Crown. Also, in the initial phase of Dominion, Sir Henry Vasa OV fi was responsible for providing lots of art for Dominion as well. However, due to his inactivity, his career was short..
The Dominion of Carolusburg inherited from its parent nation, the New Sarovian Empire, the concept of arts production for cultural development. The artistic development of the Dominion was very relevant to the development of the history of the Dominion itself — the period in which it became known as Henryrism (referring to Sir Henry Vasa OV and his artwork), and, ultimately, the current moment in which we we find: the Lanzism (referring to the 2nd Viscount Camrose and 1st Viscount Teri, Lanz Kinwood).
National Symbols[edit | edit source]
The national symbols of the Dominion of Carolusburg are influenced by natural and cultural factors of the Continent of Ostos as well as influences due to colonial times. This can be seen from its main symbol: the Bull, which represents the carodian population. In addition, the presence of several symbols on its greater coat of arms can be seen, such as: the Lion and the Sarovian Eagle, representing Anglophony and Lusophony within the New Sarovian Empire. Also, note the symbol of Zor-Mako, the first to arrive in Ostos. You can also notice the flag of the Aurean Empire below the Lusophhone eagle, thus representing the annexation of the Aurean Empire to the Dominion. As well as the collars of the Order of the Vasas and the Order of the Bull can be noted. In addition to clearly referring to the carodian population with its main symbol: the Bull.
