Biography

Early Life

Mao was the grandson of Great King Mao Lee Zendong XVI of Zhengguo, an eastern power. His mother married Carolus XIII in 330 SA, few years after the death of his first wife. According to longstanding Sarovian traditions and customs, Mao was named after three relatives - Mao after his mother's father Great King Mao Lee Zendong XVI of Zhengguo, Carolus after his father, and Constantine after Constantine IX Vasa. In 335 and 337, he was given further names as per Sarovian traditions. His full name was Maolus Carolus Consteynnos Alffo Albaros Ioan eui Zendong-Vasa (Mao Carolus Constantine Alfonso Albert John of Zendong-Vasa). Maolus I became Great King Mao XVII Zendong-Vasa of Zhengguo in 350, following his grandfather's death, at which he left Sarovia for Zhengguo, although he did not renounce the Sarovian citizenship.

During a terrorist attack in 352 SA, two of his three brothers were killed, moving him from fourth to second in the line. In late 356, his father Carolus XIII Vasa was declared dead, resulting in his brother Andrei I becoming the King of the Sarovians and Emperor of the Sarovian Commonwealth, for a short while before the terrorists seized the capital and killed him (357 SA). In May 19th 362, after successfully defeating the last resisting forces of the People's Communist Republic of Sarovia, he was finally crowned King of the Sarovians and Emperor of the Sarovian Commonwealth.

Reign

Ascension

Carolus XIII, the Emperor whose reign symbolized an era of, majorly, peace and great cultural production, passed away on December 16th, 356 AS at Stenhammer Palace. Following his death, Andrei I was crowned, however, he was brutally killed by the communists following the fall of the capital to the rebel forces, in February 4th, 357 SA. The House of Vasa officially declared his brother Andrei passing at 11:51 PM on the same day by a press release in all Realms through Sarovian Pathe, at which Mao promptly decided to return to the Empire and fight against the communist rebels.

Upon the defeat of the People's Communist Republic of Sarovia's belligerents, Mao immediately became the King of the Sarovians and Emperor of the Sarovian Commonwealth. On the 24th of August, Mao was proclaimed to His Imperial Majesty's Privy Council as Maolus I. The Sarovian Civil War of 357-362 SA

Following the brutal murder of Andrei I, the communist revolutionaries immediately proclaimed the People's Communist Republic of Sarovia, leading to a five year civil war between the Communists and Loyalists, those who supported Mao's claim on the throne despite him being of foreign ascent.

The Purge (362-365 SA)

Shortly after his coronation, Maolus I declared all communist and socialist parties illegal and ordered that all sympathizers and remaining PCRS soldiers were persecuted and killed, in a period that was later known as The Purge.

The 400 Year Celebration

During the 400 Year Celebration of the New Sarovian Empire, Maolus officially pardoned the communist rebels and gave them a post mortem blessing, reconciliating the people with the memory of them. It was also during the feast that Maolus I said his most notorious phrase: "May the Golden Sun in the Sky never set on Sarovia. May the Empire stand four hundred more years."

Late Life (393-408 SA)

Maolus I's health declined during his late life, due to the fact that he was a smoker, and was diagnosed with lung cancer on 397 SA. Despite that, he was cured after a long treatment.
