Margaret, Princess of Kiev (birth: Elizabeth Margaret Melonia Sophia Victoria Alexandra Christina eui Zor-Mako-Vasa-Nassau) is the current wife of the heir apparent to the Sarovian throne, as well as a prominent politician, military officer, and artist. Born to the Duke of Preuze Francis in 280 AS, Margaret was married to John, Prince of Kiev in 304 AS under the supervision of the reigning monarch, Constantine IX Vasa.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Margaret, known to her father the Duke of Preuze affectionately as "Melon", was born in the House of Lyon in 273 AS. Her father, alongside other members of the House of Lyon, were destined for a career in the public service. Margaret grew up as an aspiring artist and tutored under many prominent Sarovian artists, such as Kiddbrutal Kaine and Leonard Raptor. Margaret's artistic talent grew under the guidance of Sarovia's finest, blending classical techniques with modern expressions. Her works often explored themes of familial duty and societal evolution, reflecting her upbringing amidst the political intrigues of the House of Lyon. Despite her burgeoning fame in artistic circles, Margaret remained a devoted supporter of her father's political endeavors, balancing her creative pursuits with a steadfast commitment to the family legacy.

Enlisting in the Military[edit | edit source]

Contrary to her fathers wishes, however, Margaret enlisted in the Imperial Army in 289 AS, and defied family expectations by refusing to commission. She went through rigorous training including basic training, before her father intervened and ensured she was granted access to the prestigious Blue Guard. As a common soldier, earning the respect of her peers through her dedication and skill, despite her noble blood.

Her exceptional performance in several key battles did not go unnoticed, and in a remarkable turn of events, at the beginning of the Jacobite Rebellion (2021-2022), Margaret's leadership and tactical brilliance under fire earned her a battlefield commission granted personally by the Emperor. Promoted to the rank of Colonel after review from the Imperial Army General Staff, she was entrusted with command of the prestigious Royal Sarholm Regiment, making her the youngest individual ever to lead the unit. This unprecedented honor solidified her legacy both as a soldier and as a member of the House of Lyon, exemplifying her unwavering commitment to her country and her ability to rise above expectations.

Military & Political Career[edit | edit source]

Shortly after her commissioning in 292 AS, Margaret was rewarded a courtesy title from her father the Duke of Preuze, as the Countess of Veres, which allowed her to join the Assembly of Peers. She sat for the first time in April of 2022 at Borhaus Palace and made her maiden speech on the same day. Margaret was quiet in the Assembly of Peers, often abstaining or voting alongside the crowd, for the beginning of her time in the Assembly. During the Sorrel Succession Crisis in 295 AS however, Margaret would skillfully position herself to also become the Duchess of Sorrel, and began seeking entry into mainstream Sarovian politics.

Margaret sought election in the House of Commons in the Election of 296 AS, and won the constituency of Francia, named after her father. She sought the nomination of the Caps Party, and would faithfully serve in House of Commons until the Election of 297 AS, where she ran in the constituency of Scotia but was disqualified due to the Reform Act, 2022. In the Election of 298 AS, Margaret successfully won the riding of Sarvium. Margaret would stand down and win in Scotia again in 301 AS, which was her final time serving in government before entering the House of Vasa, forbidding her from running. Margaret was a staunch supporter and loyalist of Tsu Kinwood during his premiership, and served in his Cabinet until 305 AS.

Margaret often served as Minister of Justice in HIM Government, where she tirelessly worked to uphold the rule of law and implement judicial reforms. Her unique background in both the arts and the military provided her with a multifaceted perspective on justice, allowing her to approach legal matters with both compassion and strategic acumen. Margaret championed numerous initiatives aimed at increasing transparency, reducing corruption, and ensuring fair treatment for all citizens, but was often stalled by the Prime Minister of the day until her resignation.

During this time, the Duke of Preuze, her father, passed away, and Margaret oversaw the ceremonial funeral and took control of the House of Lyon.

Princess of Kiev[edit | edit source]

John and Margaret were married in 304 AS, and became the Princess of Kiev, among other titles. Margaret continued her relationship with the Imperial Army after the retirement of Empress Katherine, and was brought into the Imperial Army General Staff. Margaret continued to serve in the Imperial Army and the Assembly of Peers as a fervant liberal, but retained political neutrality well as per her rank and station.

Margaret continues to serve to this day in a variety of martial and government roles.
