The Dominion of Carolusburg, popularly known as Carodia-Aurea, is a country located on the Continent of Ostos. The Dominion Capital as described in the Territorial and Electoral Reform Act, 2022, is the City of Carolusburg. Carolusburg is a federation of provinces and territories under a federal parliamentary monarchy. Carolusburg has a King as its head of state along with the Governor-General of the Dominion as its direct representative. In addition to having a head of government, who is the Prime Minister of Carolusburg who is elected by the people. The Parliament of Carolusburg is the main body of the Dominion for exercising the legislative function, which is divided into two houses: the House of Commons and the Assembly of Peers. While the House of Commons is composed of the Members of Parliament elected by the Carodian population in order to represent them, the Assembly of Peers is composed of all Sarovian peers present in the Imperial Sarovian Navy, together with nobles of Carodian ethical origin. The official currency of the Dominion of Carolusburg is the Carodian Crona (abbreviated to Cr or known simply as Crona), which has an exchange rate of 50 Cronas to 1 Saro.
History
Pre-History
The history of Carolusburg goes back very far, starting in 2016 after the creation of the Emerald Town Expedition Corps led by a Sarovian by the name of Johnathan Zor, a distant cousin of the House of Vasa where the Emerald Town Expedition Corps bravely faced the New Frontier Republic led by Vaughn dynasty that would later become the Aurean Empire. The struggle for the Continent of Ostos took place in several skirmishes between Aurea and Sarovian troops, as Aurea refused to recognize land claims by the New Sarovian Empire, although the struggles were roughly equivalent. In addition, during the expedition to Ostos, the New Sarovian Empire established the "Three Colonies" which were the colonies of New Reuss, New Syrixia and Carolusburg, eventually the colonies underwent several transformations that became New Reuss and New Nassau, located in the north island, while the Grand Principality of Carolusburg was located on the south island of the mainland of Ostos. But all that would change during the Second Saro-Aurean War.
Second Saro-Aurean War
The Second Saro-Aurean War was essential for the establishment of an autonomous Dominion on the continent of Ostos, after all, the Imperial Sarovian Navy was finally restructuring itself and managing to repel the threat of the Aureans led by Kevlar. Then, after a major offensive carried out on the 25th of July 2022, led by His Imperial Majesty, Constantine IX Vasa in person, and the Prince of Kiev John Vasa and Rear Admiral Richard Lux, the New Sarovian Empire and her Colonies and Dominions bravely defeated the Aurean Empire in a series of pitched naval and land battles. After the humiliating defeat of the Aurean Empire and later its surrender at the Leda Palace in Sarholm, New Sarovia, Constantine IX would later proclaim the creation of the Dominion of Carolusburg on the southern island of the Ostos on the 25th of July in 295.
Modern History
The Dominion of Carolusburg came into being through the 2022 Charter of Sovereignty written by His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Constantine IX who would later become Constantine I of Carolusburg. However, even with the surrender of the Aureans, Kevlar Vaughn broke the Treaty of Leda and failed to pay the war reparations, which caused Sarovia to reoccupy all the Aurean lands again, and this time, end the Aurean hegemony on the continent of Ostos. Sarovian officials and Aurean lords forced the abdication of Kevlar V to his nephew, which was originally rejected. Due to this, most of the Aurean Lords, in fear for the country's future, fled to the Dominion of Carolusburg to crown Constantine IX as Emperor of Aurea. To strengthen this, Cassio Avidius-Vaughn, Aurean Emperor Emeritus, claimed the imperial throne and granted it to Constantine IX. Kevlar V, in spite of the loss of his entire government apparatus, website and crown, would illegally claim the crown to go to his nephew as per the original offer. They claim to be Aureans through the pretender rebel Angel Vaughn. Thus, the Dominion of Carolusburg would become the legitimate successor of the Aurean Empire being known as: Carodia-Aurea.
During the course of history, the Dominion of Carolusburg had His Grace the Duke of Burvanica Richard Lux Vaughn as its Governor-General, who later died and his position was occupied by his grandson, Theodor Kinwood. Since then, Carolusburg has been one of the most developed nations on the continent of Ostos and always looking to develop further.
