The office was created out of [[Constantine VI & I Vasa|Constantine VI of New Sarovia]]'s claim to the title of [[Grand King of the State (title)|Grand King of the State]]. Thus, the State would become part of the [[Sarovian Commonwealth]], and consequently, a Vasa Realm. From this arose the need for a federal viceregal representative, who is responsible for administering the government of the Grand Kingdom of the State during the absence of His Royal Majesty, the Grand King. Currently, the Governor-General of the Grand Kingdom of the State is Samuel Clarke.
